The US and British Virgin Islands are an idyllic group of islands located East of Puerto Rico and West of the Windward Island chain of the Caribbean. During the winter months the wind is a consistent 15kn-20kn out of the East and, due to the geography of the Islands, the ocean swells are kept down. The water is consistently warm and crystal clear, offering great snorkeling and beautiful pictures.
The distance between islands is large enough to give the sailors in the group some thrills but close enough to not have to stress about a schedule. This location offers world class sailing as well as excellent scuba and snorkel destinations. Each island is unique and offers something different so this is a destination that you can vacation at for years and not get bored. Our captains have traveled extensively throughout the US and BVI and have a lot of local knowledge to add to your itinerary planning.
Since this is a very large area encompassing many island nations from St. Martin to Grenada we have broken it into three groups from North to South. Within each subdivision we have an established starting point and can do one way trips starting and ending in different places or we can return to the starting point at the end of the charter.
For the summer months S/V Zenaida, our mono-hull, makes the trip from the Caribbean to New England and is available to be chartered both for the offshore sail and while she cruises Cape Cod and the Islands. The offshore passage is not like our captain and crewed charters and you will be expected to hold a watch and assist in the sail, however it is an amazing trip for people looking for some offshore sailing experience or need time on the water to pursue a captain's license.
Once in New England S/V Zenaida is based in Edgartown Harbour on famous Martha's Vineyard Island and is available as a Boat and Breakfast, a day charter to explore the beaches of Martha's Vineyard, or a weekend live-a-board to visit the mainland and the island of Nantucket. Unlike the Disney Land sailing of the Caribbean, sailing in New England has the charm of changing weather and the challenges of tides and fog. In Captain Sam's opinion this is "real" sailing and should be enjoyed and experienced by sailor and non-sailor alike.
